... appears in the Disney version of the story as a blue–eyed blonde. In the 1883 original (by Carlo Collodi) she's the Fairy with Turquoise Hair (La Fata dai Capelli Turchini), or the Turquoise Fairy (La Fata Turchina).
Collodi portrays the Fairy with Turquoise Hair as a young girl living in a house in the middle of a forest. She appears at critical moments in Pinocchio's wanderings, and tries to keep him on the straight and narrow. Although the naïvely willful puppet initially resists her advice, he later comes to follow her guidance. She in turn protects him, and later enables him to assume human form.
